Tanner Smith

Doctor of Physical Therapy

Tanner Smith is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in orthopedic injuries, post-operative rehabilitation, lymphedema, and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders (TMD). He attended undergraduate school at the University of San Francisco, where he received a B.S. in Exercise and Sport Science. While there, he was a member of the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Team, earning All-Academic honors all four years of his student-athlete career. He attended graduate school at Chapman University in Orange, CA, where he received a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, graduating at the top of his class with awards in Academic Excellence and Excellence in Research.

Tanner is trained in injury prevention and recovery, working with athletes of all levels, from recreational to professional. He assists them in overcoming injuries and maximizing athletic outcomes, particularly in golf, running, soccer, and overhead throwing. He is a certified Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) provider, utilizing various manual therapy techniques to improve soft-tissue mobility and joint range of motion to prevent injury and ensure full recovery following an injury. He is also a Certified Clinical Instructor (CCI) for doctorate students on clinical rotations completing their DPT degree.

Tanner combines his athletic, academic, and clinical experience to provide knowledgeable and patient-centered care. His goal is to help you return to the activities you love at the highest level possible. When he is not treating patients, Tanner enjoys spending time with his wife and being a dad to twins, working on his golf swing, and watching his favorite team, Arsenal.
