Marina Makar

Physical Therapist

Meet Marina! Marina was born in Egypt and moved to California at the age of 10. She grew up playing basketball and has always enjoyed staying active, although she also appreciates a good day of relaxing!

Marina’s interest in physical therapy grew from her desire to support the overall well-being of her patients. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology while completing the prerequisites for physical therapy school, driven by her desire to understand each patient as a whole person. She believes effective care means addressing both physical and emotional well-being.

Before graduate school, Marina gained valuable experience working as a physical therapy technician in both a long-term acute care hospital and an outpatient clinic. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Youngstown State University, completing three clinical rotations, including two in outpatient orthopedics and one in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU), with additional exposure to the neuro ICU.

Marina views physical therapy as a creative, patient-centered process. She develops individualized treatment plans that consider each patient’s learning style, motivation, and unique needs, helping them feel understood, supported, and empowered throughout their rehabilitation journey.

Outside of the clinic, Marina enjoys playing sports, hiking, and spending time at the beach. She also loves making memories with her husband, family, and friends, whether that means relaxing at home, watching a good movie, or going on new adventures!
